Ownsley wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born on a piece of land in Tennessee, from a single run-down single wide and a good idea from a close friend.

How It Started

It started with a neighbor's single wide in Tennessee — bought at auction, run down, and with not much left in the budget to fix it up. Traditional renting wasn't going to work. Property management felt like a headache. The numbers just didn't add up.

A close friend suggested rent-to-own. The idea was simple: let the buyer invest in the property themselves, collect steady monthly income, and give a family a real path to ownership — without pouring more money into renovations or dealing with landlord hassles.

That first deal changed everything. The buyer was so satisfied that he told his brother — who was interested in doing a rent-to-own deal on the empty lot next door. That deal happened too. Then two more properties followed. Every single deal worked well for both sides.

What became clear through those deals was that there was no good place online to find rent-to-own opportunities. Listings were scattered across Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and word of mouth. Buyers had no way to compare terms. Sellers had no professional platform to reach serious buyers.
